1990 WITH CINDY CRAWFORD

Recently I've been looking back at 1990s fashion, particularly looking into the fashion icons/supermodels of this era and found numerous STUNNING images of Cindy Crawford. At her prime time in the 90s the ex-supermodel frequently featured on the covers of VOGUE, People and Cosmopolitan magazines to name a few. She was definately more than a model, but rather a fashion icon, beauty inspiration and role model. Each photograph highlights a different but equally as beautiful image of Crawford concluding that original supermodels will never be forgotten & cannot be compared to those of the 21st Century.

UNBELIEVABLY FASHION

Vogue UK December 2008 issue: This spread was taking by photographer Nick White, It features innovative designers such as, Alexander McQueen, Comme De Garcons, Gareth Pugh, Viktor & Rolf, John Galliano & many more. The photographs are quite simply breathtaking. I can't even fathom all the imagination, preparation and thought applied to achieve such an artistic outcome!

THE SEQUINS OF BALMAIN

Sequins always seem to make a comeback, or maybe they never leave. But they were seen a great deal in Autumn/Winter 2009, on the catwalk, red carpet and on the High Street. They stole the show at London Fashion Week in September but its clear to see that Balmain get's the 'King of Sequins' this season. Seen on the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Kate Moss so was clearly on the right track.

MODERN RETRO

These photos of Kelis are taken from Australian magazine OYSTER in July of 2009. She looks young again! Her makeup is hot too. The whole 1960s inspired makeup and the composition takes immediate inspiration from popular 1960s Model, Twiggy (Below)

Dior takes inspiration too!

AFRICAN QUEEN

Randomly found in a magazine at Uni, I think it was i-D! This is fashions answer to the term 'African Queen'-She looks sooo fierce! I love the gold jewellery worn with the dogtooth yellow & black jumper. The multi-finger rings and hoops say 1980s Hiphop, but the head wrap is tradtionally african, the fact its jean makes it even more special!

As a designer myself whos clothing is usually a mix of African traditional style & westernised fashion, this instantly appeals to me & reflects my clothing in the sense that it mixes different cultures.

HAUTE WHEELS

This photograph is just incredible! It's just so clever and affective. Bringing two opposite ends of fashion, High vs. Street and merging them together creates an artistic masterpiece worthy of inclusion in any fashion magazine.

By Photographer Ari Marcopoulous, featured in New York Times.

Model wears: Christian Dior By John Galliano, Taffeta Botticelli gown.
